Streaming Video, Cut The Cord To Cable. No More Satellite Bills Ever

Is Streaming Video The Next Big Thing In The Technology World

Well........Honestly probably not. Streaming video has been around since the early nineties, the only big thing about it is the technology surrounding it.

When we watched movies on VHS tapes, popular in the early eighties, we always ran the risk of watching a movie so much that it would just wear itself out. We have all experienced that dreadful moment when the tape broke inside the VCR. If you didn't pull it out just right *SNAP*!!!! *DAMN*!!!! No more movie. Well we all enjoyed and endured that for a time but something better always comes along.

Digital Videos Before Streaming

In 1995, DVD's (Digital Versatile Disk or Digital Video Disk) found their way into the arena of popularity. First mainly used for software and other computer files. Movie and home entertainment distributors adopted the DVD format to replace the VHS tape as the primary consumer digital video distribution format. Sales soared as people anxiously visited video stores to rent, then purchase new video release movies. A clearer picture, no rewinding, and no tapes breaking. This was the next big thing since peanut butter and jelly. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, Blu-Rays came out. Now you have a DVD that requires a different type of digital player. Blu-Rays still in circulation, still in the arena of popularity, yet also on the verge of extinction.

Streaming Video Is Here To Stay

Streaming video is here and it is here to stay. Netflix, the pioneer of streaming video has paved the way for other streaming services like: Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, Sling TV, Youtube, Google Play, itunes, and Vudu just to name a few. Even most cable and satellite companies offer streaming video. Movie rental businesses are slowly becoming a thing of the past. We saw this coming with the fall of Blockbuster. We still have Hastings, or do we? Hastings, once a video rental and book store, has started selling mostly novelty items. Book sales, novelty items, and music merchandise is the glue holding this once thriving video store together. I predict they will be out of business soon, or at least the video rental business. Sure, there are still a couple of mom and pop video rental stores still around and I wish them the best of luck. Just like vinyl records, cassette tapes, and phone booths all came to an end, so shall DVD's. Cable companies and satellite companies will one day follow. Pay-per-view streaming sources, like the cable companies are loosing thousands of customers per day, resulting in a revenue loss of millions per day. Just how long will the band-aid hold from the punches streaming TV and videos are landing on the cable and satellite companies?

What Are Consumers Willing To Pay For Streaming Video

Well, I'll start by telling you what people are getting fed up with paying first. On average Charter customers spend $100.00 per month, $1200.00 per year, not including all the hidden fees and upgrades. Comcast customers spend $200.00 per month and $2400.00 per year. Direct tv customers spend on average $117 per month $1,404 per year. Their strongest competitor being Dish Tv charging customers $76 per month, $906 per year on average. That's after all the hidden fees. That's a far cry from the advertised $19.95 per month. What if I told you that by streaming video you could cut the cord and never pay a monthly fee ever again to watch anything you wanted on tv. That time has arrived. No more monthly fees ever. The truth is, when you pay your monthly bill you are paying for mostly channels and movies that you really don't want to watch anyway. Networks increase their fees passing the extra cost on to the pay per view networking sources and that fee is passed on to you the consumer. When the internet super highway was born it was a fantastic thing. what they did not realize at the time is just how powerful it would become. The government felt the crunch through decreased sales of postage. people started e mailing so there was no need for postage stamps to send an e mail out. At one time our government tried to charge consumers five cent per e mail. Well that didn't go over well and never happened. Remember Napster the music sharing website? That caused a bit of a stir. It was taking money out of wealthy entertainers pockets when their music was being shared and not purchased. Even with i-tunes you just buy the song you want instead of the whole CD. Less money for the music artist but at least they see money from it unlike the praised Napster. The same thing is happening with streaming video. Through the internet you can now find and stream any movie and tv show you want to see. This time it's helping out the average consumer and it's about damn time. Not only can you watch what you want but you can make extra income introducing this to people that know nothing about it. You will never see it advertised on Tv because its putting them out of business so how will people find out about it. You guessed it, through you the consumer. Check this out If you have internet the good news is you can now turn your cable off because you no longer need it. The secret is out and the money is being returned to your pocket.
